The Abstract Securities Landor Competition is a search for recording talent, whether a singer, instrumentalist or ensemble. There are no age limits, and no preconceptions about the type of repertoire or artist we wish to record.
The aim is purely to find a perfect marriage of talent and repertoire that will enrich the world of classical recording for many years. Previous winners include Czech pianist Libor Novacek, whose 2nd release, of Liszt, has received worldwide critical acclaim and a Gramophone 'Editor's Choice', Lithuanian pianist Evelina Puzaite, whose debut CD was released in September 2007.
The judging panel of eminent musicians has included violinist Peter Cropper, flautist Philippa Davies and soprano Dame Anne Evans. The first prize is a recording contract with Landor Records, and the winner is also be awarded the 'Abstract Securities Prize', a financial award tailored to the needs of the winner.
Finalists are also invited to perform at major UK festivals. Festivals associated with the competition include Brighton Festival, Buxton Festival, Cambridge Summer Music Festival, Music in the Round, Newbury Spring Festival, Northern Aldborough Festival and Ryedale Festival. NB This year's competition has not yet launched, but will be announced on this page first. Please keep visiting the website.
