'To encounter a single guitarist capable of shaping these lilting phrases with such sensitivity to musical atmosphere is rare enough, to discover two who move and think as one with such effortless technical precision and expertise is nothing short of miraculous.'
International Record Review

'If you're looking for something a little unusual and uplifting to see you through the Summer months, you could hardly do better than this.'

Description
For their second release on Landor Records, The Arada Guitar Duo looked to the sun-drenched Mediterranean for inspiration, and have unearthed a fascinating and rare collection of original pieces for two guitars. Their previous release, 2006’s highly successful and widely broadcast ‘Grand Duo’, explored original 19th Century music written for guitar duo. ‘Mediterranean’ is its 20th century counterpart. The musical language comprises rich sonorities, vivid colours, and a range of expression from almost violent drama to sublime peacefulness. All the shades, colours and textures of Mediterranean life are here, from sunrise to sunset, dance to stillness, water to fire, ocean to sky, anguish to joy.

Some of the composers featured are household names: Joaquin Rodrigo’s Tonadilla and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Preludes and Fugues have entered the standard guitar repertory. However, as the duo continued to explore this musical world, they unearthed some true rarities, two of which are world premiere recordings.
