As joint winner of the Abstract Securities Landor Competition 2007, Ilona Timchenko is on a long-term recording contract with Landor Records. She studied as a pianist and composer in Moscow and the Netherlands, and has performed in a wide repertory with numerous orchestras including the Orchestra of the Academic Kapelle of St. Petersburg, the Dutch Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic of Flanders, the Royal Philharmonic of Galicia and the Romanian Radio Orchestra and in prestigious concert halls such as the Musikverein of Vienna, the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Kapelle of St. Petersburg and the Megaron of Athens. She has also performed chamber music with groups such as the “New Music” Chamber Orchestra, a duo with Mark Lubotsky and the recently created “Stella” Trio in Santiago de Compostella.

Ilona has premiered a number of contemporary pieces, some of which have been dedicated to her. Among other awards, she has won First Prize at the Enescu Competition in Bucharest, Second Prize and Press Prize at the Liszt International Competition in Utrecht, a prize at the Beethoven Competition in Vienna and Third Prize at the “Maria Callas Grand Prix” in Athens.

She premiered one of her own pieces for chamber ensemble at the Festival of Modern Music of Avignon in 1998, which received an especially warm reception from the renowned composer Sofía Gubaidulina.
